I’m a sucker for a short break to Byron Bay – from morning to evening there is always a great buzz (and never a dull outfit). The restaurant and cafe options are quality and aplenty. I think we made it to a third of the places I wanted to dine at – I guess not a bad problem to have. The beaches are beautiful and apparently the surf is always ‘up’ but for some reason whenever someone says that, all I hear is ‘Should we go shopping? Maybe a quick trip to your favourite boutique in Bangalow??”. There is always live music, or if dinner and a drag show is more your style, well there’s that too! And of course the warm, kind and beautiful Hemsworth Brothers locals.. I meant Byron locals.
Depending on your style of luxury, Elements Byron Bay or Sunseeker are the front runners of places to stay. Elements is like its own little town within the town, a short 5 min drive or 10 min electric Bike into the heart of Byron Bay. With a lagoon and an adult only pool, fire pit, private beach club and lounge, in house spa, forest trails and horse riding, there really is no need to leave if you don’t want to!
The Sunseeker is tucked away just outside the bustle of Byron. I spotted The Sunseeker’s 80’s inspired Brick Motel style accommodation on a post breakfast (The General Store – A must Cafe visit!!) walk one morning. With a little research when I returned, I found out it had recently made Conde Nast’s Hot List for its totally reimagined look. It’s stylish and creative and arguably one of Byron’s best kept secrets.
